To show blog posts in a carousel in WordPress, install the free SlideVerse plugin and insert the Post Slider & Blog Carousel block. Pick the post type, filter by category, set the order and count, and choose how many posts show at once on each device. New posts appear automatically, each with its featured image, title, excerpt and read-more link.
Build it
- Install and activate SlideVerse.
- Edit the page or template and insert Post Slider & Blog Carousel.
- In the sidebar choose:
- Post type — posts, pages or any public custom post type.
- Category filter.
- Order and number of posts.
- Set slides per view for desktop, tablet and mobile — for example 3 / 2 / 1.
- Set navigation (arrows, dots) and autoplay if you want it.
- Style the cards in the Style tab — colours, spacing, borders and typography, with hover states.
- Publish.
To show it on every post, add the block to your Single Post template in the Site Editor.
Three useful setups
| Setup | Where | Settings |
|---|---|---|
| Latest from the blog | Homepage | Posts, newest first, 6 posts, 3 per view |
| Featured guides | Category page | One category, 5 posts, centered, 1.5 per view on mobile |
| Portfolio | Work page | Portfolio post type, 8 items, loop on |
Make the cards look consistent
- Every post needs a featured image — the same aspect ratio for all of them.
- Write short excerpts. Long auto-generated ones crowd the card; use the post's Excerpt field.
- Keep titles under ~60 characters so cards stay the same height.
Speed and accessibility
SlideVerse loads its files only on pages that contain a slider, and serves them from your own site. Sliders support touch, swipe, keyboard and mousewheel control. Autoplay pauses on hover and focus and stays off for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
Pro: dynamic and product sliders
SlideVerse Pro adds a Dynamic Content Slider for any post type, taxonomy or custom field, a WooCommerce Product Slider, extra pagination styles and 3D transitions, from $19.99 a year.
Carousel or marquee?
A carousel moves slide by slide and visitors control it. If you'd rather have posts glide past continuously, MarqueeX's Post Marquee does that — see the WooCommerce and post marquee guide.
More SlideVerse guides: an image slider, a testimonial slider and a before/after slider.
